Bill Lindner is a nationally recognized outdoor photographer in the fresh and salt water fishing and hunting arenas. His unique underwater and dramatic action images have been widely published in magazines, books and advertising. A lifelong sportsman, Bill's knowledge and passion for fishing and the outdoors is reflected in every image. Bill is a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America and has won several "Best in Craft" photography awards for images published in 2000 and 2001 and 2004. Based in Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes, his assignments take him from Canada to the Caribbean.

In addition to assignment and studio photography, Bill has an extensive archive of stock images. His photos appear in consumer advertising, packaging and catalogs for Rapala, Storm Lures, Terminator Lures, Berkley/Pure Fishing, Abu Garcia and St.Croix products. Magazine cover credits include Outdoor Life, Salt Water Sportsman, Lake Country Journal, North American Fisherman, In Fisherman Ice Guide and Krause Ice Guide. His images represent advertising for Rapala, Aqua Vu, Gander Mountain and Maurice Sporting Goods including their attention-getting in-store displays and billboards. Mike Hehner is the stock photo manager and Bill's work is also represented by Windigo Images.

As a cinema photographer, Bill has filmed and produced product commercials for Rapala, Berkley/Pure Fishing and In-Fisherman television and shot film for National Geographic. Since 2001, Bill consults and films with his brothers at Lindner Media Productions on client videos, TV commercials and promotional projects.

A long-term photography partnership with North American Affinity Group has resulted in Bill being the principle photographer for the North American Fishing Club books and North American Fisherman magazine. He has provided principle photography for all the fishing books covering the gamut of freshwater species. Bill has also been the exclusive cover photographer for the North American Fisherman magazine for the last three years and provides extensive studio and location photography for articles and columns.

With an added interest and strong background in food photography, Bill is currently working on documentary-style still-photo essays, surrounding the topic of foraging for edibles from the wild. Covering the outdoor essence and culture of various regions, Bill's work spans the range of maple sugar, fruits and vegetables and Minnesota wild rice to the Florida stone crab and queen conch of international waters. Two gallery shows of wild rice photography in the Twin Cities area have resulted in his images being used by the Science Museum of Minnesota in a exhibit on the Mississippi River and the Cass County Historical Society. One of Bill's wild rice images was named Best of Show in the Lake Country Journal magazine contest, Portraits 2000.

Bill Lindner Photography Staff

Bill Lindner
Bill Lindner Bill started out as the staff photographer for In-Fisherman. During these formative years he focused on all aspects of photographing fish, including still photos, film and video. He set up the in-house darkroom and helped establish the fishing photograph as an educational tool. His next stop was Creative Publishing International, where he continued to develop a unique eye for live-action sporting photography especially in the freshwater fishing arena. Recreating and capturing freshwater environments in a glass-sided photography tank resulted in stunning images of trout, pan fish, bass and walleye. His extensive work “on location” during these years honed and developed a unique talent for explosive, live action photography including spectacular fish jumps, dramatic landing shots and beautiful scenics that capture the excitement and serenity of sport fishing. As a cinema photographer, Bill has filmed and produced product commercials for Rapala, In-Fisherman television and shot film for National Geographic.

Bill’s current passion is documentary-style still-photo essays, surrounding the topic of foraging for edibles from the wild. His Native American wild ricing series has captured the entire cycle of ricing from dormant beds under the ice to harvesting, finishing and to the table, Bill’s images are a comprehensive record of a unique lifestyle and life cycle. Images from this photo series have been featured in two Twin Cities (MN) gallery exhibits.
